The journey from Sastamala to Huittinen passes from the outskirts of the Finnish Lakeland region into the tranquillity of the countryside, crossing a stunning suspension bridge towards national park landscapes, carried along by the flow of the river.

As you travel from Huittinen to Kokemäki, you’ll immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of the national park and idyllic village roads. This part of the route offers beautiful scenery, untouched nature, and the historic charm of riverside villages.

From Kokemäki towards Pori, the route takes you over stunning bridges from one riverbank to the other, following scenic riverfronts and rushing rapids as the river approaches the opening sea.

The Pori – Yyteri stage takes you from Pori’s urban cultural landscapes towards Yyteri’s stunning sand dunes and the ruggedly beautiful Kallo lighthouse island, right by the waves of the sea.

Along the village paths and at the village cafes, you'll hear stories of the past and the future. The river guides you from village to village and bridge to bridge. Royalty, merchants, and pilgrims have all traversed the river valley. So, experience the River Trail's rushing rapids and the quiet stillness of the river as it connects the lakes and the sea!

Ever since the Kokemäki river has flowed, I have been here. You can casually call me Eternal River. I am the spirit of this river, a kind of Satakunta miracle. I am like the Little Mermaid of Denmark, but really not like that at all. You will not find a more moving guide than me, I am really weird and absolutely unique, just like the people and river spirits in this area tend to be. I know the history of this river, its different estuaries, rocks, shores, and villages like the back of my hand...

The Tampere – Pori railway line runs conveniently along the entire length of the River Trail. There are several train stations along the route, making it very easy to get to the route by train and bike!
